Sage 50 is “Cloud-connected” which means you can access your accounting data in the Cloud.

Sage 50 Accounts subscription includes all the latest software updates so there is no need to upgrade the software, the Cloud version of Sage 50 is hosted by Sage and new software updates are automatically applied.

One of the main differences between Sage 50 accounts and Sage Accounting is the deployment options, Sage 50 can be deployed either as on-premise (desktop version) or in the Cloud, whilst Sage Accounting is only available online in the Cloud.

Sage 50 does not use SQL, instead it uses a flat file database which in some instances users have reported slower performance if you manage large volumes of data.

Sage 50 was designed to run on Windows PC’s and not a Mac, you can however use Sage 50 on a Mac by hosting the software online.

Sage 50 and Sage 50 Cloud are the same accounts software which enables businesses to create new invoices and quotes, the application also allows you to manage stock, cash flow and submit VAT returns to HMRC.

Bank reconciliation in Sage 50 is done by highlighting the bank account you want to reconcile and click on reconcile at the top.

Sage 50 Accounts has its origins from the Sage Sterling range which became available in September 1989. The product was later rebranded as Sage Line 50 and in the 2000s was rebranded to Sage 50.

Sage 50 licence costs begin at £92 per month for Sage 50 Accounts Standard and £186 per month for Sage 50 Accounts Professional, pricing is based on Sage’s software as a service (SaaS) subscription plan where fees are paid each month. Sage does change the pricing each year so it’s always best to check the latest prices first.

Sage Intacct is a true cloud-based accounting and financial management solution whilst typical Sage products like Sage 50 Accounts are “Cloud connected” where you need to install the software on your computer and servers.

Sage 50 accounts software manages your accounting, invoicing, cash flow, bank reconciliation, purchasing, payments and stock, as well as submitting tax returns online and provides real time financials reporting.

Sage 50 is the old name for Sage 50 accounts, but they are the same software as most customers refer to the software as Sage 50.

Sage 50 payroll works directly with Sage 50 to manage pay for employees, it automates payroll processes like tax calculations, payslips, deductions and creates P60s.
